New Ambassadors present Credentials - 4 June 2024

His Excellency, Mr. Jaime Cacho-Sousa, Ambassador of Peru and His Excellency, Mr. Ng Teck Hean, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore, presented their Letters of Credence to President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency, Mr. Jaime Cacho-Sousa, Ambassador of Peru was accompanied by his spouse Ms. Jeanette Fournier, his daughters Alexia and Brisa Cacho-Sousa and Mr. Rafael Suárez, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Peru.

His Excellency, Mr. Ng Teck Hean, was accompanied Mr. Ivan Tan, First Secretary (Political) at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore.

Jack Chambers, Minister of State at the Department of Transport and at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications represented the government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Ms. Orla Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Ruairí de Búrca Director General, Ireland United Kingdom and Americas Division, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Ralph Victory, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs; Col. Stephen Howard, Comdt. Brian Walsh, Comdt. Deirdre Newell and Capt. Aidan Howley, Aides-de-Camp to the President; and Mr. Joe Brennan, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Stephen Meegan.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1 Infantry Battalion, Renmore Barracks, Co. Galway.

Commander of today’s Guard of Honour was Lieutenant Andrew Kelly.

Lieutenant Shane Gavin from the 1 Infantry Battalion, Renmore Barracks, Co Galway was the flag officer.

Captain Tom Kelly conducted the No. 1 Army Band, which is based in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
