The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has prepared a draft Statutory Adaptation Plan for the Transport Sector for the purpose of public consultation.
The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 placed the development of national adaptation frameworks and sectoral adaptation plans on a statutory basis. Ireland's first statutory National Adaptation Framework (NAF) was published in January 2018 and sets out the national strategy to reduce Ireland’s vulnerability to the negative effects of climate change and to avail of any positive impacts. As required under the Act, the NAF is expected to undergo review at least every 5 years.
The first draft statutory Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the Transport Sector, under the new provisions of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 and the National Adaptation Framework, is now being published for the purpose of public consultation. These representations will be considered before the final version of the plan is published and submitted to Government.

The public consultation will be open for a period of four (4) calendar weeks. The deadline for all submissions as part of this consultation is close of business on Monday 12 August, 2019.
