The Climate Action Plan sets out actions across every sector of society which will ensure we meet our 2030 climate commitments, putting us on a trajectory to be net zero emissions by 2050.
Included in the Plan are climate adaptation measures to ensure that the State is ready to protect people from the negative effects of climate change in Ireland and steps to limit any damage caused.
These measures build upon the National Adaptation Framework, which required the development of a Sectoral Adaptation Plan for Transport Infrastructure to be prepared by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport.
Extreme weather events can damage infrastructure, disrupt operations and potentially lead to unsafe travel conditions. This Plan identifies the key identifies key vulnerabilities in the transport network and looks to promote greater resilience to safeguard its continued operation.
