Young Ireland is the national policy framework for all children and young people aged 0-24. It covers the period 2023-2028. The full text of Young Ireland is available below.
It’s important that we listen to the voices of children and young people, and address the issues which they say are most important. This page also has links to some of the most significant recent consultations with children and young people which influenced Young Ireland. It includes consultations with groups of children and young people who may be vulnerable, and whose views may not have been specifically sought before.
The Children and Young People’s Indicator Set provides a great overview of reliable, published data about the lives of children and young people. The data is organised under 5 National Outcomes which, if achieved, will be a good indication that children and young people are doing well in Ireland. This resource is updated annually as new data becomes available.
There are also other great sources of data on the lives of children and young people such as Growing Up in Ireland, a national longitudinal study of children and young people. This study follows different groups of children and young people at different points of their lives, and more information about it, and the latest releases, are available online here.
