Loose Furniture
The Department of Education provides funding for loose furniture and equipment (F&E) for schools in various ways, depending on the appropriate delivery mechanism. This is divided into three main categories as outlined below:
- ASA/MODULAR PROJECTS – loose furniture and equipment required for classrooms built under the Additional Accommodation and Modular Accommodation Scheme. This is where the Department provides additional accommodation for schools usually via either an extension to the school building or via a modular building being provided on site.
- MAJOR PROJECTS – loose furniture and equipment required under the Major Project Scheme. This is where the Department builds a brand new school and provides furniture and equipment as part of that build.
- EXISTING SCHOOLS – loose furniture and equipment in existing schools, where there’s no new build/project required/involved.
- Replacement of loose furniture
- Special Needs Furniture/Equipment
- Opening of a Special Class
- Sensory Room Grant
- New Mainstream Teaching Post
