Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Ireland. Around 13,000 cases are diagnosed each year, and this number is projected to double by 2045. Yet most skin cancers can be prevented.

The first national National Skin Cancer Prevention Plan 2019 - 2022 was a landmark commitment, arising from our National Cancer Strategy 2017 - 2026 and aimed at tackling the most common type of cancer in Ireland.

The next phase of the Plan, 2023-2026, aims to build further on this work, continuing to collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to ensure a whole and complete approach to skin cancer prevention.
