List of Notifiable Diseases
The Notification of Diseases Affecting Terrestrial Animals Regulations 2016 (S.I. No. 130 of 2016), amended by S.I. No. 408 of 2017, provide the basic legislation for the control and eradication of animal diseases. The following diseases, if suspected or confirmed, must be notified to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in accordance with the Regulations.
General
American Foulbrood, Anthrax, Aujeszky’s Disease, Bluetongue, Brucellosis in Ruminating Animals and Swine, Contagious Agalactia, Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever, Echinococcosis (caused by Echinococcus multilocularis), Epizootic Haemorrhagic Disease, Foot and Mouth Disease, Japanese Encephalitis, Monkey Pox Virus, Paratuberculosis in Ruminating Animals (Johnes Disease), Peste des Petits Ruminants, Q fever, Rabies, Rift Valley Fever, Rinderpest (cattle plague), Salmonellosis (caused by or involving Salmonella enteriditis or Salmonella typhimurium), Salmonellosis in Poultry (caused by or involving Salmonella hadar, Salmonella Infantis or Salmonella Virchow), Surra (Trypsanoma Evansi), Teschovirus Encephalomyelitis, Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies, including bovine, Trichinellosis, Tuberculosis in non-ruminants, Vesicular Stomatitis, West Nile Fever, Salmonellosis (caused by or involving Salmonella Enteriditis or Salmonella Typhimurium, Tuberculosis in Ruminants.
Avian
Arizona Disease in Poultry (Salmonella arizoniae), Avian Chlamydiosis (psittacosis), Avian infectious Laryngotracheitis, Avian Influenza (including highly pathogenic avian influenza and low pathogenic avian influenza), Avian Mycoplasmosis (caused by or involving Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma meleagridis or Mycoplasma synovia), Avian Paramyxovirus (including Newcastle disease and paramyxovirus of pigeons), Fowl Typhoid (Salmonella gallinarum), Pullorum Disease (Salmonella pullorum), Salmonellosis in Poultry (caused by or involving Salmonella hadar, Salmonella infantis or Salmonella virchow).
Bees
American Foul Brood Disease, European Foul Brood Disease, Small Hive Beetle, Tropilaelaps Mite.
Cattle
Bovine Genital Campylobacteriosis, Bovine Viral Diarrhoea, Brucellosis in Ruminants, Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia, Enzootic Bovine Leukosis, Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis/ Infectious Pustular Vulvovaginitis, Lumpy Skin Disease, Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies, including Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Scrapie, Tuberculosis in Ruminants, Psoroptic Mange in Cattle, Rinderpest (Cattle Plague), Warble Fly.
Deer
Epizootic Haemorrhagic Disease.
Goats
Caprine Viral Arthritis-Encephalitis, Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia, Goat Pox.
Horses and other equines
African Horse Sickness, Contagious Equine Metritis, Dourine, Epizootic Lymphangitis, Equine Encephalomyelitis (including Western Equine Encephalomyelitis and Eastern Equine Encephalomyelitis), Equine Infectious Anaemia, Equine Piroplasmosis, Equine Viral Arteritis, Glanders (Farcy), Hendra Virus, Surra (Trypsanoma evansi), Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis, West Nile Fever.
Pigs
African Swine Fever, Aujeszky's Disease, Brucellosis in Runminants and Swine,Classical Swine Fever, Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS or Blue Ear), Swine Influenza, Swine Vesicular Disease, Teschovirus encephalomyelitis, Transmissible Gastro-enteritis (porcine respiratory corona virus), Vesicular Stomatitis.
Poultry
