About this consultation
This consultation consists of two parts. In part 1 the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine invites submissions on the draft Forest Strategy Implementation Plan and associated Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report and Appropriate Assessment (AA) Natura Impact Report and in part 2 it invites submissions on the draft Forest Strategy.
The Implementation Plan comprises a list of actions and measures, which will enable the Strategy to become a reality, placing Ireland on the road to achieving the Shared National Vision for 2050. The Plan also includes the Forestry Programme (2023 – 2027), which will be the main implementation mechanism for the Forest Strategy in the immediate to short term.

Register of Decisions of licence applications
Forestry licence decisions made since 13th September 2023 are now live on the Forestry Licence Viewer: Forestry Licence Viewer (agriculture.gov.ie).
Please note: Forestry licence decisions made on or after Monday 18th December will now only be published on the Forestry Licence Viewer.

Contact the Forestry Appeals Committee
The Forestry Appeals Committee(FAC) provides an appeals service where, if a person is dissatisfied with a decision of the minister or an officer of the minister, they can appeal against a decision on a licence, an approval and/or an entry into a register concerning the following:
- afforestation
- felling
- forest road works
- aerial fertilisation
The FAC is independent of the department and appeals can be made on the Forestry Appeals Committee website.
