The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Shane Ross, TD, and the Minister with responsibility for Sport, Mr. Brendan Griffin, TD, congratulated the Irish U19 soccer team on their performance at the 2019 U19 UEFA European Championships in Armenia.
Minister Ross said:
“I am delighted to congratulate the Ireland Under-19s on performing so well at the 2019 UEFA U19 European Championships in Armenia. It was a great achievement to qualify for the tournament and to succeed in reaching the semi-finals for such a young side was an amazing journey for them. Well done to Tom Mohan, his support staff and all the players on this magnificent performance.”
Minister Griffin said:
“I would like to congratulate the Republic of Ireland U19 soccer team on their valiant effort at the 2019 U19 European Championships, going out to the reigning champions Portugal in the semi-finals."
"This was a great achievement considering that the team was missing so many of its regular players. I am sure all of the players will have enjoyed and learnt so much from this wonderful experience. Their performance will cause many to be highly optimistic for the future of Irish soccer.”
