Brian McGann has over 40 years’ experience in the Private, Commercial Semi-State and Health sectors in Ireland and has been a director in a number of companies over the last 20 years.
Brian held the position of Director General of the Irish Postmasters’ Union, prior to joining SIPTU where he has been Head of Organisational Development with SIPTU since 2014 and has also held the position of Head of SIPTU College providing QQI accredited training.
Brian established the Union Learning Group with six ICTU affiliated unions, with the objective of developing a Union College through collaboration of Unions in education and training. Brian also leads a sub-committee of the SIPTU National Executive Council, to examine the impact of AI on jobs and working conditions.
Brian serves as Executive Director and Company Secretary of the IDEAS Institute, a registered charity specialising in workplace innovation, predominantly in the manufacturing sector. IDEAS also provides bespoke training for workers and organisations.
Brian is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD), and he is also a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD).
