Alma Ní Choigligh is the DG of EU Division. She has responsibility at official level for the overall development, management and coordination of Ireland’s EU policy. She works closely with the Directors in EU Division on the full range of EU-related questions, including EU-UK relations post-Brexit, key policy issues currently on the EU Agenda, the Conference on the Future of Europe process and on alliance building, as well as non-EU European organisations, such as the Council of Europe and the OSCE. She is the Minister for Foreign Affairs’ principal advisor on EU matters. She supports the Minister for European Affairs in his EU engagements both at Council and bilaterally. She also represents the Department in many meetings with stakeholders and senior officials across Government, and maintains a network of contacts with EU and non EU European counterparts.
