Gerry Waldron served for 16 years in the Irish Defence Forces in a variety of operational and training roles, both at home and in the Middle East. During this time he served as both an infantry officer and later as a healthcare manager before retiring to work in the Irish health service. He currently works as a non-consultant hospital doctor in Emergency Medicine.
Gerry is the founder of the National Security Summit Ireland and Director of Slándáil a non-profit group that promotes education, discussion and debate of security issues in Ireland. He also sits on the Advisory Council of the MacGill Summer School, Ireland’s leading political summer school and a forum for political, social and economic thought leadership.
