Claire Mac Evilly is CEO of Airfield and Chair of the Advisory Group for the Irish Science Media Centre whose mission is to provide, for the benefit of the public and policymakers, accurate and evidence-based information about science and engineering through the media, particularly on controversial and headline news stories when most confusion and misinformation occurs.
Claire is a public health nutritionist by background and prior to joining Airfield, she spent many years working in communications roles in the UK and Ireland for a range of diverse organisations including the British Nutrition Foundation, the MRC Human Nutrition Research, UCD and global food multinational Danone.
She is co-founder of SCICOM, Ireland's largest gathering of science communications professionals, a former chair of Food and Drink Industry Ireland (IBEC) Public Affairs group, and a former member of the safefood advisory committee.
Claire currently works as the CEO of Airfield Estate, a 38 acre urban farm and organic garden in south Dublin with an ambition to be Dublin’s sustainable food hub in a world leading sustainable food city. Airfield is one of Dublin’s top tourist attractions with a focus on getting people to know their food through science education and fun.
