Donegal County Council proposes to build a new footbridge adjacent to and downstream of the Milltown Bridge on the LP-2994 (Monellan Road). The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a safe pedestrian footway for pedestrian traffic from Crossroads to Red Hugh’s GAA Club and the residential properties.

The works will include:

a) The footbridge super structure will be a single span cambered steel beam structure with a composite concrete deck.

b) The footbridge will have a 9m clear span between the abutment supports.

c) The footbridge will be 2m wide and with wider approaches at each side.

d) The parapets will be 1.25m high galvanised steel with infill along both sides of the bridge.

e) Construction of 8.5m of footway on the southern approach to connect into an existing lane on Monellan Road and 28m of footway on the northern approach to connect into the existing footway on Creamery Road.

f) Upgrade of the existing street lighting to facilitate the new footbridge and footways.

Waste material arising from the site will be reused within the works where appropriate, unsuitable materials will be removed to a licensed waste facility.
