The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment invites submissions to a public consultation on its new Statement of Strategy 2020-2023.
In accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Management Act, 1997, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has commenced the preparation of its Statement of Strategy for the three year period from 2021-2023. The Statement will comprise the key objectives, outputs and related strategies of the department during the period.
The process will involve reviewing our mission and objectives in the context of the new Programme for Government. Many of our key objectives remain government priorities, setting out, as they do, the ways in which we aim to deliver positive outcomes for enterprise, trade and employment.
Under the new government structures, our department has been assigned responsibility for trade promotion from the Department of Foreign Affairs and for employment rights from the Department of Social Protection. Responsibility for the research agenda and Science Foundation Ireland is transferring to the new Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. These changes will be reflected in our new Statement of Strategy.
The department also has oversight of a number of Offices and Agencies including Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, National Standards Authority of Ireland, Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Health and Safety Authority, Irish Auditing and Accounting Standards Authority, Personal Injuries Assessment Board, Office of Director of Corporate Enforcement, Companies Registration Office, Workplace Relations Commission, Labour Court and Intellectual Property Office of Ireland.
As part of the process of developing our new Statement of Strategy, we are now seeking input from the public and, accordingly, we would be grateful to receive your input, suggestions and views regarding any strategic issues that you consider should be incorporated in our Statement of Strategy.
The department’s areas of responsibility include:
