IDA Ireland’s main objective is to encourage investment into Ireland by foreign owned companies. It works as a strategic partner and provides consultancy and support services free of charge to help organisations set up and grow. Its success is measured by the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and IDA-supported companies on the Irish economy.
IDA Ireland’s strategy, ‘Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021 – 2024’ will be delivered through a focus on five pillars: Growth, Transformation, Regions, Sustainability and Impact. These interlinked pillars align with and are guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. At a national level they reflect the approach and ambition of the Programme for Government.
There are many reasons why companies locate themselves in Ireland, but it all starts with positive leadership and policies. Successive governments have developed an open economy and invested heavily to develop Ireland's infrastructure. This has allowed the IDA, a semi-state body, to continue to attract high-performing industries to our shores, even through challenging times.
We favour green lights over red tape, which is why Ireland has been internationally recognised as the best country in the world for ease of doing business. New business is welcomed and supported by the flow of talent coming from our schools, universities and abroad, to work for high-performing companies across a range of cutting-edge sectors.

Ireland is increasingly seen as a preferred destination to undertake substantial R&D activity.
Ireland has extensive experience, built up over 50 years, of working with international companies – from all over the world – to grow and support investment in Ireland.
Ireland’s corporate tax rate of 12.5% remains internationally competitive. Businesses in Ireland also benefit from a comprehensive tax treaty network with over 70 different countries.
