All governments adhering to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct (the Guidelines) are required to set up a National Contact Point (NCP).
The role of the NCP is to promote the Guidelines and related due diligence guidance, and to handle complaints (referred to as 'specific instances') as a non-judicial grievance mechanism. The NCP will also handle any enquiries related to the Guidelines. To date, 51 governments including Ireland have established an NCP.
The Ireland NCP is a standalone Unit which is part of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
