New Volunteer Centres are being set up in 8 counties who do not currently have a Volunteer Centre –

  • Cavan
  • Kilkenny
  • Laois
  • Offaly
  • Roscommon
  • Waterford and
  • Wexford.

Funding for this initiative is being provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

Up to now, these counties had a Volunteer Information Service, operating with limited time and staff resources, aiming to simply maintain a website and access to the national volunteering database I-VOL.

Upgrading these Volunteer Information Services to full Volunteer Centres will ensure that each county has the same level of volunteering support infrastructure, providing a valuable placement service between individuals and groups who want to volunteer and those organisations that are seeking to involve volunteers.

Recruitment is now open for Trustees of the Boards of these Volunteer Centres. Trustees with a range of skills are being sought to drive the future of volunteering in Ireland.
