As the UK has voted to leave the EU, it will become a ‘Third Country’ (non-EU Member State) from the date of withdrawal.
From the date the United Kingdom exits the European Union, the movement of agri-food goods from one Member State to another across Great Britain, will be subject to customs transit procedures.
In addition animals and animal products crossing the UK landbridge will be subject to veterinary controls at the point of re-entry into the European Union.
The landbridge refers to anyone who is moving products from Ireland to Europe and driving through the UK on their way to Europe or anyone moving products from Europe to Ireland and driving through the UK on their way to IReland.
If you are the responsible person for moving animal and animal products across the UK landbridge in either direction, you are required to comply with the conditions as laid down in EU legislation as follows:
If the person responsible for the load has not got access to TRACES, they should for register for access to TRACES by accessing the application form at TRACES and email it to BrexitRegistration@agriculture.gov.ie
Queries in relation to movements of agri-food goods including movement of animals and animal products across the UK landbridge should be sent to: BrexitCall@agriculture.gov.ie
