The Applicant submitted that he was a student in [ ] when he befriended a girl named [ ] who had a boyfriend called [ ]. The Applicant became aware through text messages sent by [ ] that [ ] intended to hurt him in some way as he believed there was something going on with his girlfriend. In or about [ ] the Applicant was out when he was punched in the face by [ ] and thereafter received a Facebook message from [ ] saying that [ ]. On the evening of the [ ] the Applicant went out to a party in town and sometime in and around midnight of the [ ] [ ] struck the Applicant on the right hand side of the face. Thereafter the Applicant does not quite remember what happened. The Applicant’s father was called who came and collected him and later brought him to [ ] Hospital where he was kept overnight and released at about 2pm on the [ ]. The Applicant could not see anything from his right eye and on the [ ] he attended [ ] Hospital where he had a CAT scan. He was told to come back on the [ ] for surgery. He was detained as an inpatient in [ ] Hospital on the [ ] for three days having x-rays, scans and surgeries. The Applicant submitted an invoice from [ ] Hospital in the sum of €100, a prescription claim form in the sum of €32, parking in the sum of €7.50, a second parking receipt in the sum of €12.50 and a second prescription claim in the sum of €8.93.
The Tribunal awards €160.93 to the Applicant.
