The Children First Act 2015, which was fully commenced in December 2017, provides for a number of key child protection measures, including raising awareness of child abuse and neglect, providing for reporting and management of child protection concerns and improving child protection arrangements in organisations providing services to children.
A Children First Sectoral Implementation Plan is a plan required to be prepared and published by government departments, setting out the measures they are taking, or will take, to ensure compliance by their department and funded services, with the Children First legislation and Guidance.
The Children First Act 2015 requires organisations that are providers of relevant services to prepare a Child Safeguarding Statement. This is a written statement that specifies the service being provided and the principles and procedures to be observed in order to ensure, as far as practicable, that a child availing of the service is safe from harm.
