The Department of Foreign Affairs is recruiting a Pavilion Director on a fixed term contract to lead the Department’s Expo 2025 that will take place in Osaka from 13 April until 13 October 2025.
World Expo 2025 will be held in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
The site is a 155-hectare plot on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay. Around 160 countries and international organisations will participate at Expo, and 28 million visitors are expected at the site over the six-month period. Participation in Expo 2025 is a key deliverable of the Global Ireland initiative and will support delivery of the strategy’s objectives.
The Director of Pavilion at Expo 2025 will report to and work in close collaboration with the Commissioner General and the Deputy Commissioner General and will be responsible for management of Ireland’s pavilion. The Director of the pavilion will be based in Osaka.

Requirements:
The successful candidate must have:
• Minimum of three years’ experience managing and leading at a senior level in an international environment and in complex situations
• Understanding and experience of financial management and reporting
• Proven ability to manage people and teams, including training and performance management
• Effective communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills communicating and presenting complex information in a clear, persuasive and impactful manner
• Ability to build consensus and relationships among team members, senior managers and stakeholders
• A degree or post-graduate degree or equivalent professional qualification (minimum Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications) in a discipline relevant to Ireland’s participation at Expo
