Ireland’s second Child Summit took place in Croke Park on November 21st, 2023. The event was hosted by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) in collaboration with the Children’s Rights Alliance (CRA).
The event was designed to provide policymakers, decision-makers and relevant stakeholders with the opportunity to share their views on the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s (2023) concluding comments and recommendations on Ireland’s record regarding its children’s rights obligations.
“The Child Summit was attended by approximately 250 delegates including young people and representatives from the Government of Ireland, statutory organisations (e.g. Tusla, HSE, An Garda Siochana), academics, non-statutory and voluntary organisations. The participants represented organisations working across a broad spectrum of services and policy areas including in children’s rights, parenting support, early years care, education, youth services, disability, social justice (housing/poverty), LGBTI+ support, Traveller/minority ethnic groups support, alternative care, justice, domestic violence support, and arts and culture.
