On the [ ] the Applicant was sitting speaking to two friends in his parked car when two men pulled him out of the car, knocked him to the ground and started kicking and hitting him. The Applicant reported that two other men got into the front of his car and a third man got into the back of the car and finally the two men assaulting him jumped into his car and drove away. The Applicant immediately phoned An Garda Síochána who arrived, he was later brought to the Regional Hospital where he remained as an inpatient for two days. The terms of the Scheme allow the Scheme to compensate victims of crime for special damages incurred as a result of personal injuries sustained as a result of a criminal act of violence. In the instant case the Applicant did not submit any vouchers evidencing any losses arising from the incident and in the circumstances the Tribunal makes no award.
