This document is an update to Part 3 of Ireland’s Marine Strategy: Programme of Measures (Article 13), under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). The Programme of Measures includes specific initiatives to ensure Ireland’s marine environment reaches the Environmental Targets set out under Ireland's Marine Strategy Part 1 in 2020. The Programme includes 153 measures which aim to maintain and, where necessary, improve the status of all 11 descriptors. This reflects the consolidation of 227 existing measures brought forward from 2015 to 112, the modification of 28 measures, and the development of 12 new measures. New and/or updated measures have been included for all 11 descriptors of the MSFD.
The document contains a summary of the updated Marine Strategy Part 3; while Annex 3 provides a complete list of all measures.
The update has been informed by the feedback received from the public consultation held from March to May 2022.
