Established in 2012, the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES) is the cross-government network of economists and policy analysts operating within the civil service.
In line with the objectives of the Public Service Transformation Strategy 2030, Better Public Services, IGEES is working to support the delivery of better public services, through an evidence informed approach to the design and implementation of public policy.
IGEES analysts work within all government departments and the Revenue Commissioners, providing evidence-based analysis and outputs to inform the policy development process. IGEES analysts adding their skill set to the varied expertise in government departments working on policy development and implementation, providing analysis on priority sectoral or cross-government policy issues.
IGEES teams undertake analysis and publish research across a wide range of policy issues.

IGEES works closely with the CSO and IGSS (Irish Government Statistical Service) to build capacity and awareness, and increase availability and utilisation, of data, to strengthen the evidence base for policy decision making.
