Mary is the Director at the Office of the Government CIO in the Department of Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform. Mary has a broad remit including strategy and policy development such as for Connecting Government 2030: A Digital and ICT Strategy for Ireland’s Public Service and Digital for Good: Ireland’s Digital Inclusion Roadmap. Mary also takes the lead for the ICT Profession for the Civil Service working closely with PublicJobs on ICT-related recruitment across all levels of the Civil Service. Mary is a #GenerationApprenticeship Ambassador for her work on the Civil Service ICT Apprenticeships.
Gillian Doherty currently leads ATI as Chief Operations Officer, the leading accounting technician and certified accounting technologist body on the island of Ireland. Gillian has over 34 years’ experience in the Irish Education system, with 23 years direct experience developing new education strategies within the Irish Professional Body Sector. She has led the strategic development of new accounting Apprenticeships on an all-island basis for the past 10 years. She is currently Chair of the Sector Partnership in Accountancy Northern Ireland. She also held the position of Chair of the Dublin Dun Laoghaire ETB Audit & Risk Committee from 2020 to August this year.
Carmel is a seasoned Global HR and People culture professional. Her 30-year career spans various industries, including asset management, technology, financial services, and life sciences. Carmel is a member of the National Skills Council and is Head of HR at Mbryonics in Galway. She also Chairs the IFS apprentice programme and is on the steering committee that developed the 2 Financial Services apprenticeship.
Professor Stephen Byrne is the Deputy President and Registrar of University College Cork. He is the Chair of Clinical Pharmacy Practice and previously held the role of Head of School of Pharmacy in UCC. In 2024, under Professor Byrne’s direction, UCC launched a new level 9 apprenticeship programme in Social Work. The apprenticeship was developed in collaboration with industry partners as a new approach to postgraduate social work training.
Sean is an experienced leader with over 44 years of public service. In his most recent role as Area Training Manager for Mayo, Sligo, and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB), Sean held strategic responsibility for apprenticeship programs, overseeing services for more than 1,200 apprentices and 600 approved employers, both regionally and nationally.
Sean successfully led the development and delivery of two national apprenticeship programs, while three additional programs, including the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, were under development during his tenure. He now applies his extensive expertise and knowledge as an independent Education and Training Consultant.
Conor works as the Apprentice Development Executive for Iarnrod Eireann. Conor has over 30 years’ experience including 26 years working on the railway. Having started out as an apprentice fitter, he has worked across multiple roles including Team Leader, Supervisor, Duty Manager, Technical Trainer. Conor has won many awards including Apprentice Advocate to the Outside World 2023.
Anthony currently works as a Cyber Security apprentice based in PublicJobs working under his mentor, the Head of Cyber Security Gavin McEntee. Anthony is in the final phase of his apprenticeship with just his Pentest exam and final year Capstone to complete. Over the course of his training, he has gained practical knowledge in Networking and Security as well as training in soft skills such as Communications and Project Management.
Paul is the Works Manager and Foreperson of the OPW Furniture Division Workshops. He began his own apprenticeship journey back in 2003 and since then has utilised his skills in Ireland and abroad. He has been training and mentoring apprentices in the craft of cabinetmaking for almost 8 years striving to preserve traditional craft skills.
Siobhan has extensive experience in lecturing, training, and programme design and development across undergraduate, postgraduate, CPD and corporate disciplines. Transitioning to Education and Training Boards Ireland in 2017, she supported the development of many of the apprenticeships developed by the FET sector. Since 2019, she has been with Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) where she now leads the development and management of new apprenticeships. Her role also encompasses the management of Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL), Professional Development (PD), Communications, and Erasmus+ within MSLETB.
Rosarii is the National Director People and Change in Tusla - Ireland's Child and Family Agency. Prior to this role she was the National HR Director in the HSE and a member of the Directorate of the HSE. In addition to her vast HR experience, she has worked in both Hospital and Community Services. She served as Global Chair of the International Coaching Federation from 2020 to 2022 and has won several awards for her work in this area. She is a Chartered Director of the Institute of Directors and is currently Chair of the Board of Pobal.
Seán is a Senior Planner with the Irish Planning Institute, the all-island professional body for spatial planners, where he leads on policy, research and education. His qualifications include a Masters in Planning and Sustainable Development and PhD from University College Cork, where he lectures part-time in planning, sustainability, and climate policy.
Deirdre is Head of Communications in the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and previously in the Department of Health. A senior marketing and communications specialist, Deirdre has worked on a wide range of brands from Heineken to COVID-19 vaccines, building brand equity and driving adoption and behavioural change, always based on consumer insight. Her work has been recognised by the Civil Service Excellence Award for Citizen Impact, and the Grand Prix at the Marketing Society Research Excellence Award.
Ruth is the People Operations Manager in SOLAS, the Further Education and Training Authority of Ireland. Prior to this, Ruth spent 12 years in London, working in HR in the independent education sector.
