The 10th Civil Service Excellence and Innovation Awards launched on 26 November 2024. There are 11 categories for nomination, which are aligned with Better Public Services - Public Service Transformation Strategy. The award ceremony will be held on Thursday, 29 May 2025 in St Patrick’s Hall in Dublin Castle.
Further information on each category can be found in the FAQ document below.
Special Points of Contact are appointed in each department/office and are responsible for sending out information on the awards. These individuals also receive project submissions and forward them to their Secretary General/Head of Office.
Selected projects, within the quota limit, are then nominated for the awards. All submissions are assessed by the Review Team based on the selected awards category. The Review Team is made up of volunteers from across the Civil Service, who review all submissions and propose a shortlist, which is forwarded to the Selection Committee. The shortlist is then confirmed by the Selection Committee and winners are announced at the awards ceremony in May.
Any person who is currently employed within the Civil Service can nominate a project for the awards. You can enter yourself, or be nominated by a colleague. A Secretary General/Head of Office needs to sign off and submit their department/office’s nominations.
Nominations can be a collaboration between Civil Service organisations and Public Sector bodies in all categories. The application cannot be made by the Public Sector body alone, and must be submitted in combination with a Civil Service department/office. The project does not have to be led by the Civil Service department/office but must show significant collaboration.
The application form is available to download below.
