The Minister for Finance Jack Chambers welcomes the appointment of Ms Mary-Elizabeth McMunn to the position of Deputy Governor, Financial Regulation, at the Central Bank. This followed an open competition with an extensive selection process.
Commenting on the appointment, Jack Chambers said:
“Ms McMunn brings significant experience in the areas of banking, payments, supervision and credit unions to her new role as Deputy Governor, where she will play a key role in leading the Central Bank’s regulatory policy at national, European and Global level. I would like to wish Ms McMunn every success in the role.”
Ms McMunn joined the Central Bank in 1997 and has worked in banking, insurance and market supervisions.
She has been employed as the Director of Banking, Payments and Credit Unions in the Central Bank since September 2018.
She is responsible for the Central Bank’s supervision of banks, payment firms and credit unions authorised to operate in Ireland and is a member of the Bank’s Financial Stability and Supervisory Risk Committees. She is also the Central Bank’s current Alternate to the Supervisory Board of ECB Banking Supervision.
Ms McMunn holds a BA in Pure Economics from UCD and an MSc Investment and Treasury from DCU.
