In accordance with the provisions of Part 9 of S.I. No. 600 of 2001: Local Government Planning and Development Regulations 2001, the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland give notice of their intention to carry out the following development;
Change of use of existing office space, on the first floor of the four storey block, to a multi-functional space including a servery at the Printworks / Stamping Building, Dublin Castle, Dublin 2.
The proposed development will consist of:
a) The demolition of internal walls to accommodate a new multi-functional space and servery space on the first floor of the main four storey block
b) The installation of plant including air handling units and ducting associated with the change of use on an adjacent flat roof to the south east of the four storey block.
c) The installation of solar panels to the roof of the four storey block
The building is not a protected structure but is within the curtilage of Dublin Castle which has protected structure status (Ref. 2425 Dublin Castle, Dublin 2. The protection includes the entrance gates, all buildings in the upper and lower Castle Yards (except the new stamping branch), the State Apartments, the Bermingham Tower, the Chapel Royal, the Wardrobe Tower, the Castle steps and archway, the wall and the gateway to the south of the garden - Dublin City Development Plan 2005 - 2011).
An Appropriate Assessment Screening was undertaken for the proposed development. It concluded that there will be no likely significant effects on any Natura 2000 sites, either alone or in combination with, any other plans or projects.
An Environmental Impact Assessment Screening was undertaken for the proposed development. It determined that the proposed development will not give rise to significant environmental change by virtue of its characteristics, location, operational activities, or the nature of the impacts, and as such an EIAR is not necessary.
Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of the notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

Drawings and particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection by appointment only between 10.00am and 12.30pm and between 2.30pm and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays) for a period of 6 weeks beginning on the date of publication of this notice.
