OPW Funding for New Ross Flood Defence Works

Minister of State at the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran TD and Minister of State at the Departments of the Taoiseach and Defence with Special Responsibility for Defence, Paul Kehoe TD today announced funding of €2.8 million from the Office of Public Works (OPW) towards flood relief works in New Ross, Co Wexford being undertaken by Wexford County Council.

The funding of €2.8 million being provided by the OPW will allow Wexford County Council to complete the works to ensure the town is protected against the 1 in 200 year tidal flood event.

In announcing the funding, Minister Moran said:

”I am delighted to be able to support the flood relief works being carried out by Wexford County Council in New Ross. These works are very much needed and when fully completed will offer protection to over 400 properties in the town. I would like to give credit to the Council for their initiative in advancing these works and I am sure that the benefits which the flood protection brings to the town will allow it to continue to prosper in the years ahead.”
