As part of a fantastic programme of events for National Heritage Week 2018 (18 – 26 August), the OPW and the Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland in association with the Irish Kennel Club are delighted to present the ‘Native Dog Breeds of Ireland Show’ at the Oldbridge Estate.
Starting at 2pm with a procession of the 9 native dog breeds led by mythical and historical characters from Irish history will ‘make a connection’ and ‘share stories’ about the 9 native dog breeds of Ireland, in keeping with 2018 National Heritage Week’s theme.
Each breed of native Irish dog will be present from the mighty Irish Wolfhound to the Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier including the Irish Wheaten Terrier, Irish Red and White Setter, Irish Water Spaniel, Kerry Blue Terrier, Irish Red Setter and the Kerry Beagle.
Visitors are welcome to bring their dogs along, but they must be on a lead at all times. So come along and meet these precious Irish dog breeds and help to safeguard them for future generations.
