Dublin Conservation & Historic Building Maintenance Services

womens day custom house tour 2

Dublin Conservation leads on conservation architecture, site conservation, protection and care across a range of high-profile historic buildings occupied by Government, State Agencies and National Cultural Institutions, such as the Custom House, the Four Courts, Collins Barracks, Áras an Uachtaráin, Leinster House, National Gallery and National Concert Hall. We also lead on the conservation and capital works at OPW National Historic Properties such as Emo Court, Castletown House, and Kilmacurragh. The team manages the governance and administration around the National Cultural Institutions Investment Programme, ensuring compliance with both procurement regulations and the Public Spending Code.

The Dublin Conservation admin team also has the responsible for procurement solutions, bespoke frameworks, and identification and utilisation of appropriate OGP frameworks to support OPW’s work in conservation and heritage more broadly.

Historic Building Maintenance Services has a direct labour workforce of 170 personnel across five regions in Dublin and one region in Cork experienced in various trades and craft building skills. The workforce includes carpenters, painters, plasterers, plumbers, electricians and general operatives and promotes apprenticeships in trades vital for the conservation of the built heritage portfolio in OPW’s care.
