Irish Peppol Authority

PEPPOL is an eDelivery network for the transmission of eProcurement documents including eInvoices. Ireland has chosen PEPPOL for the transmission of eInvoices to support compliance with the eInvoicing Directive.

OpenPeppol, is the overarching association which governs the Peppol network and delegates authority over the implementation and use of the infrastructure to the local Peppol Authorities.

Ireland chose Peppol because it allows businesses to connect once and to connect to all public administrations and private enterprises on the network, breaking down barriers to trade and making it easier to transact with Government.

The OGP became a Peppol Authority on behalf of the Irish Government on 18 January 2018.

As a Peppol Authority, Ireland will participate in the development and governance of the Peppol network. Ireland is part of a wider international community that is focused on harnessing digital technology to create opportunities for greater transparency and competition in public procurement, better value for money for the tax payer and reducing the environmental impact of traditional paper-based processes.
