The Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty T.D. has today launched a public information campaign to promote Intreo - the Public Employment Service - and the wide range of services and supports it offers to employers, jobseekers, and people looking to change jobs or return to the workforce.
The campaign includes digital and social media ads based on three promotional videos recently produced by the Department. These videos - with the tagline “In with Intreo” - feature real employers and employees who respectively recruited staff or found a job with the help of Intreo. The campaign also features separate ads aimed at people who are interested in returning to the workforce.
Speaking on the launch of the campaign, Minister Doherty said:
“With this campaign, we want to ensure that people are aware of the wide range of services and supports which Intreo offers to employers, jobseekers and people wanting to change jobs or return to the workforce – all for free.
The campaign was developed in collaboration with companies and employees who recruited and found work respectively with the help of Intreo and we are delighted to showcase their success stories. I would like to thank the participants sincerely for their time, goodwill and honesty in describing their experience with Intreo and I hope this campaign will encourage others to see what Intreo can do for them.”
For employers looking to recruit, Intreo can advertise their vacancies for free on JobsIreland.ie – our online recruitment service for employers and jobseekers with a unique matching tool to help them find the most suitable connections quickly and accurately. Intreo can also appoint a dedicated account manager who can schedule and provide facilities for interviews where necessary, organise job fairs, and, with the EURES service, help to identify candidates from across Europe.
For jobseekers and people looking to change jobs, in addition to JobsIreland.ie, Intreo provides information on the range of available income supports and expert assistance and advice on employment, training and personal development opportunities from a dedicated Case Officer. This focuses on the person’s individual needs and circumstances to help them enter, or re-enter the workforce. Intreo also offers supports for people starting their own business and it provides advice on in-work income supports available to employees such as the Working Family Payment and the Back to Work Family Dividend.
In addition, there are targeted schemes to help people with a disability who wish to enter the workforce and employers looking to hire a person with a disability.
Commenting on the range of Intreo services, Minister Doherty said:
“From helping employers to find the best employees for their businesses, to providing jobseekers with one-to-one career advice and referral to training, Intreo offers a high-quality, personalised and free service. People may be surprised by the sheer range of services and supports on offer and I would strongly encourage any company looking to recruit staff or any individual looking for a job, or to change jobs, to find out more about how Intreo can help them. They can do this by visiting www.welfare.ie/intreo or by getting in touch with their local Intreo Centre.”
As part of the Department’s commitments under the Future Jobs Ireland strategy, the information campaign includes separate ads specifically for people who are interested in returning to the workforce after a period outside it.
Minister Doherty continued:
“I particularly encourage people who are interested in returning to the workforce to get in touch with Intreo. Many people in this situation have rich work experience but when out of the workforce for a while, whether to raise a family or for another reason, it can be hard to know where to start. It can also be a bit daunting. Intreo offers a tailored, one-to-one service for such people, with career advice, help with job searching, and referral to upskilling and refresher courses.”
The information campaign will run from now until the end of November, and again from January until early February. Further information on the range of services and supports offered by Intreo, and the three information videos, are available here.
The cost of the information campaign is approx. €47,000 (inc. VAT).
