The Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, today announced the allocation of €1,500,000 in Dormant Accounts funding to 90 community and voluntary organisations. This represents an increase of over 110% or €800,000, and more than double the number of counselling, psychotherapy and therapeutic services are benefiting in 2024 compared to 2023. This additional funding, to be administered by Tusla (the Child and Family Agency), increases counselling, psychotherapy and therapeutic services to children and young people experiencing social and economic disadvantage in communities around Ireland. It will help to address unmet need and reduce waiting lists for community-based counselling services.
