The President of the Eurogroup and Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, Paschal Donohoe, T.D. is in Budapest today (Friday), 13 September 2024, where he will chair the September Eurogroup meeting. As is customary, this meeting is taking place alongside the informal ECOFIN meeting, which is hosted in the Member State holding the rotating six-month Presidency of the Council.
The Eurogroup meeting will begin with a discussion on the macroeconomic situation across the euro area, where institutions will provide their assessment of the latest macroeconomic and fiscal developments and outlook, as a basis for the discussion among Ministers. Following this, there will be an update of recent developments in the G7 finance track.
“The September Eurogroup meeting is an opportunity for us to continue our momentum into the second half of the year and return to delivering our work programme after the summer break. It will be helpful to hear from the institutions on the performance of our economies and in particular on the ongoing transition and implementation of the new economic governance framework, which comes at an important moment as ministers prepare national budgets.”
