Work Matters 2 - A Workplace for all –
Employers invited to attend Breakfast Seminar
Monday, 30 September, 2019: A breakfast seminar for employers is being organised by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection to be held in October in Cork. The focus of the Seminar will be on diversity in the workplace.
The event ‘Work Matters 2 - A Workplace for All’ will be held on Wednesday 16 October 2019 at the Kingsley Hotel, Cork.
Marie O’Flynn, the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection’s Divisional Manager for Cork encourages all employers to attend the event:
“The inclusion of people with disabilities in the workforce remains a constant challenge. This seminar will provide employers with excellent information on the wide range of financial and other supports that are available to them. It will also focus on how employers can access a labour force of untapped potential that will facilitate greater diversity in the workplace.”
The keynote speaker on the morning of 16 October will be Cork-born disability rights activist, Advocacy Project Worker with Inclusion Ireland and journalist, Julie Helen.
Julie will share her insights into living with Cerebral Palsy, how employment, relationships and choice are basic human rights. She will also outline some of the changes needed to ensure that people with disabilities enjoy everyday life in an inclusive society.
The seminar will also have a panel discussion with contributions from local employers who will give practical examples of the benefits of an inclusive workplace culture.
The doors will be open at 7:15am on Wednesday, 16 October and employers attending can enjoy a light breakfast that will be served on arrival. The seminar will start at 8.00am sharp and it will finish at 9:30am.
The seminar is free - however, all employers wishing to attend should register on Eventbrite at Work Matters 2
