The MacLochlainn Commission of Investigation presented its final report to the Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan TD, on Thursday, 28 June 2018.
This Commission was established under the Commissions of Investigation Act 2004 to investigate and report on certain matters relative to the fatal shooting of Mr Ronan MacLochlainn by members of An Garda Síochána in the course of an attempted robbery of a Securicor van in Co Wicklow in May 1998.
The Minister is examining the report and consulting with the Attorney General with a view to arranging for its publication as soon as possible in accordance with the provisions of the Commissions of Investigation Act 2004.
Minister Flanagan has conveyed his appreciation and that of the government to the Sole Member, Ms Mary Rose Gearty, and her team for the professional manner in which the Commission carried out this challenging work.

Under the Order establishing the Commission, the Minister for Justice and Equality is the specified Minister responsible for overseeing administrative matters relating to the establishment of the Commission, including for receiving its reports.
