The Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Mr Sean Kyne, T.D., today (12 September 2018) announced the provision of funding of €85,000 for Boardmatch Ireland to develop a new national website to support their ongoing growth.
Boardmatch Ireland play a pivotal role in supporting charities by their work in the recruitment of high quality professional volunteers to join the boards of Irish charities. The organisation is going from strength to strength. In 2017, they successfully matched 140 people to the boards of charities. By the end of June 2018 this figure had increased to 169 and is projected to grow further.
“I am very pleased to provide this funding to support this much needed initiative which will greatly assist Boardmatch Ireland in their day to day operations,” Minister Kyne said.
“Earlier this year I met with Boardmatch and learnt of the important work which the organisation undertakes. Boardmatch harnesses the skills and expertise of people from the business and public sectors for the organisations in the community and voluntary sector resulting in benefits for all concerned – the voluntary board members, the community and voluntary organisations and the people and communities they serve.
“The funding of €85,000 from the Department of Rural and Community Development will provide a new website that will assist charities and community organisations in finding independent trustees. This will help ensure that the right people are placed on the right boards, thereby strengthening our charities and ensuring their long term sustainability.”
