Joe O’Brien, Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities, today encouraged local communities across Ireland to get involved in Street Feast 2022.
Street Feast 2022 takes place on Sunday 26 June and is a national day of community lunches.
It is designed to bring neighbours together with the aim of building community spirit and tackling isolation by inspiring conversation and fostering connections.
Street Feast is run by Neighbourhood Network and is supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Speaking today, Minister O’Brien said:
“I am delighted to support Street Feast 2022. Enhancing social inclusion and strengthening communities is at the centre of my department’s work. Street Feast presents a fantastic occasion for us to focus on the importance our neighbours, to develop new connections and to enhance existing relationships. The public’s response to the impacts of COVID-19 and more recently, to the Ukrainian crisis, has underlined the importance of such connections and I would strongly encourage people to go along and enjoy their local Street Feast.”
There are over 900 street feasts planned to take place around the country. Details on your local Street Feast can be found at https://streetfeast.changex.org/ie/locations
