The Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Seán Kyne TD, today (21 June) welcomed the publication of the Rules of the Charity Appeals Tribunal.
The role of the tribunal is to hear and adjudicate on appeals against certain decisions of the Charities Regulator. The tribunal is independent in the performance of its functions and will become operational from 4 July 2018.
The rules specify the procedures, manner, costs and timelines of the appeal process. It is intended that the process will be as simple as possible and, with some exceptions, hearings will be held in public.
“I welcome the establishment of this key part of the regulatory architecture of the charity sector, to ensure transparency and fairness in an independent manner,” Minister Kyne said.
“It is important that it is a straightforward and accessible process.”
Full information, including the relevant application form, is available on the Department of Rural and Community Development’s website at: Charity Appeals Tribunal.
