An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar today welcomed Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, to Farmleigh House in Dublin for a bilateral meeting.
They discussed how best to maintain the strong bilateral relations between Ireland and Scotland and to develop them further in the future.
The Taoiseach noted the importance of Ireland’s relationship with our nearest neighbours in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
The Taoiseach said:
I was very pleased to meet with the Scottish First Minister again today. We had a very good discussion focusing on the strong relations between Ireland and Scotland and how they can be developed further in the future.
Conversations also touched on recent political developments in the wake of the European Parliament and local elections, as well as the latest Brexit developments.
The Taoiseach and First Minister committed to work closely in the months ahead and will meet again at the British Irish Council this summer, a key institution of the Good Friday Agreement.
