Housing - Galway

For social housing, the target across the 2016-2021 period is to deliver approximately 3,500 additional social homes under this programme across this region. Over two thirds of this will be through new build with around 900 units completed, on site or progressing through approval stages. This build pipeline is continuously being added to and will be supplemented with Acquisition and Leasing activity to deliver targets to 2021 and beyond. In addition, flexible Housing Supports such as HAP and RAS will continue to deliver well for the region.

Of the 900 additional social housing units in current delivery, specific examples would include projects at a new build and refurbishment project covering 60 houses at Gilmartin Road in Tuam, 27 new homes at Ballinasloe, 14 at Claregalway, around 90 subject to planning permission at Ballymoneen Road in Galway City, Tubberhill, Westport 21 and Monksland, Athlone in Roscommon with 10 new homes, with many more for the West region listed on the Link to Rebuilding Ireland website.
