Responsibility at Assistant Secretary level for the Homelessness, Rental and Social Inclusion Division. This includes overseeing policy development and the implementation of actions to meet objectives set out in the Programme for Government and Housing for All. The Division is responsible for national policy and funding to support local authorities to address homelessness, including the management of funding provided to local authorities to manage emergency accommodation and related supports. The Division is also responsible for developing and implementing policies to ensure the effective operation of social housing more generally. It is also responsible for national policy and funding to support the delivery of Traveller specific accommodation, in addition to broader social inclusion in the housing area, including policy to support the development of age-friendly housing and housing for people with a disability. The Division is responsible for policy in relation to the private rental market to ensure the effective operation of the sector, including ensuring the appropriate regulatory and legislative frameworks are in place. This also includes responsibility for standards in the private rental sector and ensuring compliance with minimum standards. The Division is responsible for policy and funding for social housing supports in the private rental market, including the Housing Assistance Payment and the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
