Management development is fundamental to improving the productivity of small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Ireland. The business owners and managers who adopt best-practice management skills are better placed to formulate clear strategy, adopt modern methods, develop better teams, and to innovate and grow.
The Expert Group of Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) Report on SME Management Skills, ‘Leading the Way’, was published in October 2020. Enacting the recommendations of that report, an Implementation Group and a consortium of 14 organisations, from both the public and private sector, developed Skills for Better Business to make it easier for SME owner-managers in Ireland to get started on their management development journey.
