Shorter, more focused courses are offered in a flexible way through blended or online learning to allow people to gain important skills without taking a considerable period away from the labour market.
The modular courses are accredited and can provide building blocks to a full qualification if you want. Each module is also stand-alone so that people can acquire skills and put them into practice immediately in the workplace. The modules can be at any level on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), and include ways for non-traditional learners to engage with higher education.
Modules will be delivered in a part-time mode in either blended or online format, and allow learners to progress onto a full qualification on the NFQ if they so wish.
Courses are open to those returning to work, those in employment and recent graduates.
Learners can only be registered on one publicly funded higher education course. Learners are not permitted to be registered on two courses in the one academic year.
In the case of modular courses applicants can register on multiple modular courses as long as they don’t exceed 30 credits.
Eligibility criteria for participation on modular courses are the same as Springboard criteria, which can be found here: https://springboardcourses.ie/eligibility
These courses are government-funded. All participants, with the exception of returners, will be asked to contribute 10% of the course cost. Part time courses will be available to those in receipt of DSP payments, who will not pay any course fee.
