This scheme is intended to assist in increasing innovation and diversification in the horticulture industry by funding fundamental studies, industrial studies, experimental development and feasibility studies for public good and/or commercial advantage in all aspects of primary horticulture production (edible and amenity) and the valorisation of waste generated as a result of primary production including spent mushroom substrate.
The scheme is aimed at small and medium sized enterprises engaging in primary horticulture production that would like to innovate and diversify in the horticulture industry but need to carry out specific studies (feasibility/desk based) before doing so.
Applications must be made by the primary producer but can be in partnership with a Research Institution or another entity. Supporting evidence may be requested to verify that the enterprise is a small or medium sized enterprise.
The scheme is open to micro, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) active in primary horticulture production.

The deadline for receipt of completed applications is Midnight, Friday 07 February 2025.
The rate of grant aid varies depending on the type of study carried out, the size of the enterprise and whether the study is for public good or part of an effective collaboration. Full details regarding rates of grant aid can be found in the Scheme Terms & Conditions.
