The Applicant submitted that on the [ ] he was shot by a man who came to his house and discharge a firearm through the front door of his address and then fled. The Applicant submitted a glazing receipt in the sum of €270 and a medical receipt in the sum of €750 for treatment received as a result of the gunshot wounds. Pursuant to the terms of the Scheme the Tribunal may award special damages for personal injuries sustained as a result of a criminal act. The Scheme does not reimburse applicants for property damage. In circumstances the €270 for the glazing to the Applicant’s front door is not recoverable under the terms of the Scheme. However the Tribunal awards €750 to the Applicant in respect of medical expenses.
