IT recruitment company Zartis.com is offering 10 scholarships for asylum seekers and refugees to learn software development. The Level Up Software Development Scholarship covers 100% of costs related to obtaining a professional diploma in coding plus assistance in finding a full-time job in Ireland's tech sector. The usual cost of a course is approximately €5,000.
The course is completed entirely online with each participant supported by a mentor. Courses typically take four to six months to complete at which point candidates should be ready for entry level roles in software development.
John Dennehy, the founder of the initiative, said: "For years we've been working with tech companies trying to find innovative ways to address the skills shortage in Ireland. We believe that there are hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers with the potential to become IT professionals. If we can unlock this potential we will help address the skills shortage in the IT sector which in turn will help companies grow and integrate refugees into the workforce."
